Fiber Artist

I have always been interested in the process of creation. After two decades of being a science teacher, I returned to the arts to pursue my own work.

The themes I explore in my work are personal reflections of my experiences. I begin with an idea and create fabrics that sublimely remind me of the idea’s colors and textures. Then, I piece these fabrics together to form a unified vision of the idea. A fiber artist would call this a quilting process while a fine artist would call this a collage process.

About Celebration of Women Series

I became interested in the bond between women after living two years deep in the Amazon jungle with the family of my adopted son. Though there were vast cultural differences, I learned the cares and concerns of the women in the village were the same as all women and mine: providing for families, sharing joys and sorrows, establishing a personal identity, and find a place in society.
